Is your man above average?
You know men's obsession with the size of their bits?
Drumroll please, here are the stats... An average penis size of 8.8 cm (3.5 inches) when flaccid. An average penis size of 12.9 cm (5.1 inches) when erect.
As soon as I received these stats I sent them out in an email to my male friends and knew that at that precise moment, most of them were probably reaching for a tape measure to make sure they, well, measured up. And it got me thinking. Why do men have such an obsession with penis size?
Sure enough, 10 minutes after sending out my email, I got a barrage of responses.
"Wow, seems I'm much bigger than average," bragged one.
"My ruler wasn't long enough," said another.
It was only when I received one email from a friend (let's call him X) who said something that really got my attention. "What do women prefer?" it asked. I hesitated for a minute, in silent shock at the fact that one man, out of the hoards I had emailed, had actually thought to question how 'the other half' might feel.
You see, it seems men can become obsessed with size, thinking that the bigger the better, but, when it comes down with it, I suppose it depends on what he values more. If he gets his kicks from standing next to his rugby team in the communal showers and waving his todger around with a smug 'I'm the biggest and the best' look on his face, then fine.
But if — a bit like Mr X — he actually cares about how his bits can make a woman feel then this is where the debate on size really comes to a head (excuse the pun). Because, when it comes down to it, the only person who is going to notice the size of a man's penis is the woman he is in bed with.
So, maybe men should stop gallivanting around declaring to the nation their penis size and instead ask the woman lying next to him what she thinks of it. Chances are, if he's putting it to good use, she'll be happy.
